Hey Savage Rob.  Can you post a closer picture of the risers?  I'm thinking I want to get them myself for my 97'.  I'm only 5'0" nothing and want to make sure when installing my HD dragbars that the risers are suitable for me to reach.

Thanks.

Emily

I probably won't be able to get to it today but I can get one or two posted in the next couple of days.

Here are two cropped versions of shots I had already.

Here are a few more I just took in the garage.  Please ignore the fingerprints and such.  She hasn't been cleaned recently.  You can see how the riser interferes with the free rotation of the MA because it blocks the brake line.

After two days of riding it this way I am convinced I need wider bars.  They'll be more comfortable for me as well as allowing space for the brake line, etc.  I'm so convinced, I just ordered these.  I hope my current cabling still fits but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.

I'll be interested to see how the wider bars fit with the cables. So don't be bashfull with the pics when you get them.

Hey Savage_Rob.  How wide are the 87' flat bars that you have on your bike right now?  I sure hope the HD drag bar I got will work for me.

I did a quick measurement between where I think the bars end (inside the grips) and it's roughly 26 inches or so.  I'm going for 36 inches on the new set.  From what I've seen, I think that's how they are measured.

Okay, I've removed the '87 bars and installed the 36" bars I bought.  They don't have the weights inside them like the stock Savage bars so I stopped at Wal-Mart and bought 6000 BBs for less than $7.  It took between 2/3 and 3/4 of those, so something more than 4000 BBs to fill the bars completely and I used metal epoxy in both ends to seal them in place.  The width is excellent and I know already I'm gonna like these bars a lot.  Still using the risers from Jireh.  No holes for the nubs on the electrical housings but Kropatchek is absolutely correct; they work perfectly with the nubs filed off.  Just file 'em off and don't drill the bars.  Some images below.

VERY nice setup.  Bars look great.  What rear tire do you have on there?

I'm not sure how effective the flyscreen really is yet.  At this point, I'm inclined to think it has a minimal effect.

Both tires are Dunlop 491 Elite II.

Okay, I've gotten a week in and a bit longer (90 miles) ride yesterday and I love these bars.  The width is excellent (much more comfortable to me than the shorter Savage versions ).  There's plenty of room for the various housings and their associated cables, lines, etc.  They also vibrate less than stock.  I can't say I feel the difference all that much because I have the Kuryakyn ISO grips and gel pads in my gloves but my stock mirrors are clearer than ever before.  Another nice thing is that the mirrors are further out to the sides than before and I have a better view (especially around a somewhat wide body like mine.
