Thats about what I did with mine. No problems, took about 20 minutes, since I drank a beer halfway through the installation.

make sure thre are no leather stings hanging loose or not tied well so they don't get caught in the spokes.

Also be sure to clean any fingerprints/skin oils from your exhaust (assuming you'll probably touch it at some point) afterward. Otherwise you'll be cleaning off extra bluing.

And it will keep coming back... at least mine does to a lesser extent.

Actually it's high-temp header paint from Autozone but BBQ paint may hold up just as well. I'm going to have the header ceramic coated and once I settle on the exhaust sound I like best, I'll probably have the can ceramic coated too.

Was the paint expensive? Was it hard to do? My bike is black, does it look good with the glossy black paint or is it too contrasting?
I love it with the chrome guards!

I don't recall the price but it was rattlecan paint from Autozone. I can get the brand name later from home, if you'd like.
It was very easy. I just cleaned the metal well. sanded it to rough it up a bit, cleaned it again and then painted it following the instructions on the can.
I like the look but somebody else may hate it. I really can't answer that one. You can see the image above. My Savage is the Pearl Novelty Black and I think it looks okay... but I am also planning to make the bike either flat black or satin black in the future. The ceramic coating I'm planning to use will be satin black.
