leaky gas cap

Just wondering if anyone else has had this? The rubber seal looks and feels good. I see no reason for it to leak.

Did you just fill the tank? If there is too much gas in it when the gas expands from getting warm it could push out then since the tank isn't vented.

Only fill the tank until the fuel just kisses the bottom of the filler neck.

If I understand correctly, the tank DOES vent at the gas cap, hence the leakage when overfilled.

Always interesting - when you filled it was it on the kick stand or were you sitting on it with the tank up right?

if on the kick stand they seem to form an air pocket that can cause this - it will go away if you right the bike before you put the cap back on - might slosh it back forth a couple times if it's real full before you cap it.

On mine it seems it can catch a bubble in one part of the tank or another and cause it to blow out the vent.  The way I manage to keep it from doing it is to fill it on the sidestand, only to where it barely kisses the bottom of the filler tube, then stand the bike upright to put the cap on.  Sometimes if you rock it side to side very slightly, you can see a bubble get released and the level equalize a bit.

I always try to talk the kids into the "tank filling" process so I can rock it to get the bubble out. Like burbing a baby Grin Until I figured out what was happening I had gas running up the tank onto my leg when I rode.

Ok it's been a couple days you should be on at least another tank or two - better results?
