A quick mock up...

I might have to just skip the sprung solo seat and hardtail conversion. I kinda like it THIS way...

That is going from THIS funk and nastiness:

Vulcan 800A spare seat. Keeping the 14 inch apehangers, just rotated them forwards a few inches. Not sure on the mirros yet. Blacking out the exhaust. There WILL be some form of "chick stick", a tool roll,  matching paint on the tins. Cheapo headlight, cateye taillight, grilled rear signals (to be replaced by mini signals with red lenses) on old stock Hap Jones side mount headlight bar (modified to work on rear). Keeping a fishtail exhaust, may go back to mufflerless.

What do you all think of THIS mock-up versus what I thought of doing? And add dual disc front (the drum is F'd up) or keep the single disc?

Okay Perry, cut loose on it... Grin

I think it looks great but I"m not a fan of those handlebars.

What's that about a brake mod?

I'm 6'2" and change. Trust me, with stock buckhorns or drag (gag) bars, the thing was nearly unridable. Might rotate them straight up, gives me a few more inches of stretch in my arms. Take a gander at my avatar, that is the same bike, that is me, my arm is too close to my torso.

The brake mod? I might bolt on a complete dual disc front end off an older Kawi KZ four popper. Have a choice of spokes or cast alloys.

So you'd be replacing the forks as well?  The Kawasaki dual brakes would probably be fantastic.

I'm liking that WD! That Vulcan seat looks comfy ... though a solo saddle would jive more with the retro look (just MHO ...) ... that tank is awesome! Is it gonna be hard to fit on there?

Like the seat and the tank. Dual brakes will give you enough stopping power
Watch out for those apehangers Undecided

I really like the look of that a lot.  That seat/tank/apes combo works.  I actually like the look of the apes too but I kinda doubt I'd like the feel.  I guess I'll have to try it sometime to find out.  Anyway, that's looking really good.

Definitely like the fishtail and the apes.  Cool tank.  Go with a different fender and spoked wheels

I like the simplicity and maintenence-free aspect of alloy wheels but the spoked look has grown on me.  I must admit to a fondness for the dinner plates on HD Fat Boys though.

Samm, nope, I really do dwarf the bike that badly...   Shocked

Perry, tank fit is a piece of cake, Dremel off the frame lugs from the stock tank and it will fit as though made for it. Solo seat? Maybe... but only with an old Bates pillion or a 45 flattie luggage rack.

Vroom, debating an old one piece FL rear fender, no front.

I'm going for the 1972ish Brit bike look. Savages ARE a slightly modernized Brit knock-off...

Hmmm.... I'm thinkin' it'll look pretty dope with an FL rear fender, no front fender, apes, struts, and a sprung solo.  What color(s)?

Too bad your drum is wrecked, or you could forgo the front brake alltogether... on the otehr hand, the transmission can slow you down some... Wink

BTW,  what is that gas tank off of?  I've got a mustang tank I'd love to fit, but, no, not even close...
