LH cover....annoying disappearing act

Hi all,
Does anyone have problem with their LH cover (the painted cover on the left that covered the CDI box) that just flew off? I have this happened twice already on the freeway...tired of replacing it (at about $89+tax a piece from the stealer)...so for now, my Savage kinda looks like a rat's bike without the LH cover

wow!! $89 just for a piece of the cheapest metal that Suzuki could find...The shop that overhauled my engine replaced the old bolts or whatever they were with allen bolts and they seem to work, but I'm gonna go check to see how tight they are now.

A drop of blue locktite and shakeproof washer (star washer in some circles) go along way to preventing this from happening. Max

My LH cover was missing when I bought The Lettuce, it too had fallen off on the road according to the seller. He'd cobbled up a replacement with a dark grey plastic box and some cable ties. Since its hidden behind my leg I don't notice. Still waiting for somebody to offer the piece on eBay while parting out a dead Savage (Hey Torque, you listening?) 'cause there's no way I'm paying dealer prices for a bit of tinwear.

I haven't added the washer but Loctite works well for me so far.

Yes indeed,
It happened to me too. I even heard it rattling on the hwy behind me. I give it to the "human error factor" because I did not torqued it enough. And yes, I paid the price. Now- LOCKTITE every time. To tell You the truth, if You cover the screw once, the locktite stays there and You don't have to reaply it every time, but I have it right next to me, so why not. If it happens on the road I'd not be concerned about losing the cover again.
This is another one of the CHEAP DESIGNED and MANUFACTURED Suzuki things. The "hook" ftom undeneath is very soft and bends, the rubber "condom" on top of it wear -out easy. The cover starts to vibrate and if the screw is the only thing that is holding the cover.

Someone parting out a "hurricane damaged Savage" is offering L & R side panels at 19$ a shot on US eBay.
