New to the group

Today I purchased a 2001 Savage. I looked at quite a few bikes that were new before purchasing this model. It will be only the 4th bike I have owned in 30 years of riding. My last bike was a beloved Honda CB 550 but Hurricane Ivan destroyed her and now I am a thumper rider. Before that bike was a 1969 sportster which was a vibrating, rumbling kidney shaker that only lasted 2 years as I started losing sensation in my fingers due to the constant shaking. My learner bike was a 1956 JAWA 250 which was a great bike to learn on and actually appericiated in value. Other than adding some saddle bags, the only change will be the removing the asctetically unpleasing tank decal. That was my first use of a very nice and easy to navigate tech fourm. Its very similar to the SOHC fourm that I used to enjoy.
My reasons for purchasing the savage was simplicity of design, easy to maintain and a thrill to ride with a great sound. This model like all others it seems has a plug seal leak and I suppose I will enjoy learning how to repair it. I called the local Suzuki shop and they said they would do it for $175 and that it might last 10000 mile before it needed replacement. I mentioned that If its a constant problem why didn't suzuki change the design and stop the problem. His response was WHY?? I suppose he makes a nice profit at $175 a pop.

There is also the strong pull at low RPMs, narrow profile, light weight. But I have to ask, whatcha Brew, brother?

TY the only thing missing from this forum is the ability to add or subtract karma. I'm sure I will get over it.

The brew part is a nick my mom gave me. It seems that when I was five or six beers disappeared from the fridge and my dad noticed. My mother started to stake out the fridge and soon discivered that I was the culprite. Seems I was chugging cans in an effort to emmulate dad. the brother tag is just my attempt to relate to fellow riders in a proactive way.
