Carb problem?
02/25/06 at 10:56:44

Waiting for new, bigger main jet i decided to try the bike with only spacer mod. I put in back all the jets, started the engine and...only highest rpm are available  Sad  I tried several times - the same. I thought if only spacer was changed this is the reason, so i tried original white spacer and...the same situation, only highest rpm. What i do wrong?

Do you mean it will only run at high rpm?

You either have a vacuum leak, or something is wrong with the needle jet. (the 2" rod that you removed to do the spacer mod). Did you get the little spring back on the needle jet?
Also check to make sure the throttle cable is working freely.

A vacuum leak will not cause real high rpms, let's focus on the throttle cable sticking. I have to take my son to baseball practice right now, I'll check back after while.

Did you adjust the idle speed screw? (The thumb screw on the left side of the carb)

Help me understand - the engine will only run at very high rpm?

Because you had the slide out that is where I would look first. If the slide is sticking and not going all the way down the engine would act like that. It needs to be very clean and free to move. Make sure the large spring that pushes the slide down is installed correct.
