DR engine on Savage???

Hi all,
I have been offered a really really cheap DR650, and I'm really undecided.
On the one hand, I don't need a second bike.
On the other, the engine sports more ponies, a 5speed box and kick start.
So I would have to convert the rear wheel from belt to chain drive...
The plus side of this is Cheesy:
- 5 speeds
- better hand controls/switchgear plus tripmeter and speedo
- kick starter for kicking a$$ 8)
- chain drive conversion means I can experiment with final drive ratios and find the best one for me Wink
The minus side:
- Chain drive conversion... only found it once on dutch eBay (or was it german?) Tongue
- engine block not as elegant as LSRoll Eyes
- may have to undergo new DOT test  Shockedbecause I changed the engine block (and serial number...)

???

I'll bet you find the DR engine is taller.

How about chopping the DR instead of the engine swap. It would be real different Shocked

You mean, convert it to low-rider?

... Hmmm, hadn't thought of that !

Will think about it.

Just two issues...
- very high rear suspension with single rear shock
- very high header, and the muffler is virtually under the seat

How do you suggest I lower the rear, and which header/muffler assembly do you suggest???
