Wow, a custom see-thru engine complete with a multipiece connection rod. Torque my man when you do something you do it up right, poor thing wasn't even dirty yet. Where are the AK-47 holes or will it be used as a boat anchor. Grin. It died so young, I hope it wasn't a virgin. Just joking around. Tough break, sorry to see it. Undecided

Somewhere out there... there is a motor looking for a new home. Maybe from a wrecked Savage?

the connecting rod is really cheap "pot metal".

I wonder how many Japanese bikes that applies to (V*, Aero, etc.)?  I remember, back in the mid '60's, commenting to a buddy who rode Yamaha & Honda, about what looked like inferior metals.  His reply (word for word): "I've never found anything wrong with them".  I always wondered about that; still, this seems like a very isolated kind of incident.

well it depends on if u consider a ocasional peelout and ocasional intersate run as me beating on it,if u do, i really feel sorry for u,i mean your letting life pass u by...if u dont consider that a beating, congrats your a true biker.

Naww, I don't consider that "beating" on it ... but I don't Ride like that either ... too old for that ... so that said, I guess more of my life has passed me by than yours Wink
As for being a "true" Biker ... I consider myself more of a "motorcycle enthusiast" than a "Biker" ... I would probably be run out of Sturgis!

This "modification "would make it easier to check the camchain tension and change the oil though......

Have read in the Dutch forum about a similar case. The engine was known to have an  oil consumption. Guy went on a longer trip and did not check the oil level, engine runs "dry" and klabam.

yeah i originally thought that i either i blew a tire or it was leaking oil,but when i came to a stop, the oil was in the middle of the window. then i had to get a ride home,to get my truck to haul it back home Roll Eyes, and while loading it ,all that oil came out right in my truck bed. what a pain in the a$s.
