i see all these aftermarket kits avialble and was wondering do they actaully work would it cause damage to a small engine like the savage what about the spark plug-battery-switch method will it work?

wouldnt u still need another coil?  Im sure it can be done but from what I have heard that propane is safer and more reliable.  Sounds like fun!
