I bought a small gear puller that was a real piece. It was made in china and bent the first time I used it, and it did not even remove the gear I was pulling.

i have a jack from Harbor Freights and the problem is there isn't much frame under the Savage and it makes it unstable. I guess its pretty solid and works on most other bikes but not ours.

I have a HF model, and it is OK, but you have to be REAL CAREFUL where you put it.  I put some big hooks into the garage wall studs and use the tie downs I use in the truck for transport.   I tension it to both sides and front and back, just to be sure.  I'd rather do it and not need it than need it and not have done it Wink

I bought a 17mm deep socket because Clymer's says the Savage spark plug takes one.  Looked all over for a 17mm spark plug socket but couldn't find one.  Duh!

Funny...the plug on mine (see signature) takes an 18mm deep well socket.

YMMV, I guess!
