LS650 Softtail?

I've always liked the look of Harley's Softtail Standard ... and of course Kawi's "Softtail" knock-off the Vulcan 800A. Remember seeing a Photoshopped image of a black LS650 awhile ago that had the stock rear side-mounted shocks "chopped" out ... gave the Bike a real clean look!
Anyone out there ever fussed with the idea of removing the stock shocks and mounts and fabricating a hidden single mono-shock arrangement for that "Softtail" look?

Here's that pic I was talkin' about ... sorry for the clarity ...

I think the bike looks superb... Wink
However, I also think that in order to rehash the rear suspension, either one is extremely competent, or it should be left as is, maybe stiffening  the setup or fitting longer, softer shocks, but no more.

On the other hand, why not buy a clapped out DR and convert that to a softail? Could actuallyu be cheaper AND one would still have his Savage to ride
urple;">... I can hear the Beatles singing
[glow=green,2,300]'he's got a Savage to ride...' [/glow]

I am in the process of building a mono shock Savage with a 250 rear tire. I will see if I can get a picture posted.

Hi Odar! Yes! yours is the Photoshopped LS! I have loved that pic ever since I came across it on-line a few years ago ... I have printed it and keep it next to my desk at work (hope you don't mind) ...
Your Bike also features the beautiful rear pillion handle (replacing stock sissy bar) that so many of us Savage owners lust after! If you were to make a bunch of these, you would have no trouble selling 'em all! Put me down for one please?!
Ciao!
