Helmet with rear-view mirror. Gimme now!

I saw this just posted at WebBikeWorld:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/reevu/
It's a preview of a full-face helmet with a built-in rear-view mirror.
Is this cool or what?
Expected price about $400.00.
I don't think I can wait until "early 2006" for one of these. I want one NOW!
How about you?
Cheers.

Cool idea, but my bike already has mirrors built in!

I wonder if that would make the helmet weaker for impact? That would suck if it made ur brain blow out the back side.
its a kewl concept tho.

Yeah, I was thinking that too (does it compromise the structural integrity of the helmet?)
Good concept though. I have a "third eye" mirror on my bicycle helmit and it's great.

I think it is a very interesting idea but I'll let other folks be the guinea pigs to see if they are truly safe in a crash...

Might be a little confusing to use you would have to turn your head left to look right...

Don't hold your breath waiting for that helmet. I read about it two years ago and sent the manufacurer an email requesting info on it. Nothing yet.

Maybe.
It seems that the optics needed to bounce an image up and over the rider's head uses a series of reflections. Maybe one of the reflections flips the image left to right.
But ... who really knows?
I agree, though. I think the rider would want to turn the head left to see -- in the mirror -- what's behind and to the left. Then, to glance over the left shoulder to check the blind spot would just be a continuation of the same leftward head-turning motion.
I would like to try one of these helmets on to see how they operate.

I could never try to look at something that is that close to my eyes. And going back and forth from looking at something that close to far away would seem dangerous for peeps with bad eyes like myself.
