Okay, it took a while, but I finally went on working on my Savage. I equipped her with a 5-speed gearbox, put on the new rear-fender with a cat-eye taillight, put on a loud horn, heated handgrips (works great!) and re-polished the forklegs and so on. I also started on building an enginespoiler
this is what I want the enginespoiler to look like
I hope you like it!
The things to do:
- mount the 15L gastank
- make me some forward controls
- polish the handlebarconsoles
- give it a new paintjob (I'll put on some "mock" paint during christmas and repaint it correctly this summer)
after christmas I'm going to pick up an open exhaust, for the better sound

Looks awesome, SavageP!! You've got a great look going and I'm jealous! What/how are you making the engine spoiler out of? I've thought of doing that as well...just waiting for a bullet fairing to come in the mail - then i want to re-do my seat...looking to make it into a cafe racer type eventually.
good luck!

hey J, thanks! A friend of mine gave me a plate of sheetmetal, 2mm thick, sized 2 x 1m. First thing is just 'scooping out' the sides, using an electrical jigsaw, after that I want to just measure the size of the part coming on the inside and cut that out. The hardest part will be getting it in the correct shape (or do you say form?). When that's finished I want to just weld it together. I think I'll weld it from the inside and put in a pretty thick weld, so I have some juice for cutting a round edge.
Have fun with the fairing!

change of plan: first wanna try making a glasfiber spoiler, less weight, more shape-freedom

it will only be a small spoiler in front of the gearbox, I think it shouldn't be a problem

Maybe something like this could be fitted?

it looks great, but it's too expensive, that's my 50cents. (or what's the expression?) And it's more fun making it yourself. I can always grab an old ZX6R/ZX7R/YZF/TZR/FZR/etc streamline and cut it to pieces.

The expression is "my two cents worth" but with inflation (and VATs in the EU), you're probably right.

thanks for you tip, I actually held that in mind making my spoiler. I just finished it today, now I have to grind, fill, polish and spraypaint it, but I'll have to wait with that till next weekend...
here are some pictures:
I just don't like that the line didn't work out as planned, I wanted it to be round, but somehow the mould wasn't good enough... maybe I'll make another one during christmas-holiday...

Cool job, SavageP. I've just been noticing those engine spoilers more and more lately and wondering about them.
Gonna look awesome on the bike!
Do those things really do anything for the average joe rider or are they just basically to look cool?
Good luck with her!

I don't think they do anything, it's just to look cool and so on. Maybe it will help just a little, but that's not what I made it for. Maybe I'll put some electrostuff in it one day, maybe not. If only that stupid resin would dry... then I could start finishing it

I just found out somebody already painted his Savage the color I wanted to paint mine. But well, maybe I'll do it anyway. It would look like this:
except for the bigger rear fender. And I would paint the cylinderheadcovers in the same color.
