So you folks who have removed the stock airbox and side panels completley (e.g. Lancer)... where did you hide the ignitor?  Under the seat?  Near the rectifier?  Also, did you guys have to make any of the wires longer?

Many thanks,

KS

mines just down further on the fender than the stock position. there was no need for me to change any wires, i just made sure my lead was well insulated.

vroom is talking about the ignitor in the side pannel not the rectifier on the rear fender.

when i had my air box out i made a bracket that bolted into the lower rear fender monting holes(because i have no fender) i used 200lb braeking strength zip ties to hold it on the bracket.

Correct, not the rectifier.  Debating wether or not to remove eitehr or both fenders...  Definitely want to yank the airbox & side covers.

i would diffinatly remove the rear fender it just looks meaner,i remove the front fender on my bike when when i know im not going to run into any rain,it even looks meaner.

i took out my air box for a while, and put a chev 4inch air cleaner at the end of a 90degree angle,it stuck out the left side of the bike, but i was getting too much air even with a 160 main jet and half spacer.
the air box is back in now the bike has cleaner lines with it in .my pics are around here somewhere.

The dude you rode with on Saturday posted some pics.  Very nice.

Haven't yanked the rear b/c sometimes a young woman is dumb enough to get on there with me.

This is an old picture, but I put my ignition module in the toolbox.  I did have to lengthen and solder the wires.

You can only see part of the cooling fins, but up under the battery box is a frame crossover tube...in front of the swingarm.  I fashioned a clamp and mounted the rectifier under the battery on the frame.  It stays cool and out of the way....I wrapped all the wires later.

Nice work greg.  My battery is kinda hangin' out in the open...  I like what you did with the rectifier and have been playing witha  similar idea myself.

Thanks!

If you look close at the battery you will see that I have mine up against the battery.  The battery is held in place by bungee's and the igniter was just slid right under the bungee's, on the right side of the battery.

The rectifier works fine under the battery box.  Getting my clamps mounted was the hard part, but after that the rectifier is retained with 2 easy to reach bolts.  To be safe against moisture, I did fill each connector with silicone rubber...after I shortened the cables, of course.

Part of this winter's plan is to dump the stock battery box and get a gel cell instead.  Then I may have to do as Lancer did with the ignition module.
