just let off throttle and up shift.  blip the throttle then shift on the way down.  i don't recomend going into first untill you are well practiced at the technique.

Quicksifting isn't bad for the transmission proper?

I'll have to start running without oil then! That'll be bad for the engine too!

I never could get more than 65 out of second gear on the Savage.
