The cheap A$$ garbage Chinese made knock-off "maintenance free" batteries suck A$$. They are a normal wet cell battery without venting provisions. Anyone here ever see a battery blow up? Get a dry cell or run a traditional wet cell with vent.

Oh, the Japanese made maintenance free batteries are made of much better materials than the Taiwanese/Chinese versions. Still suck, however, they are somewhat better...

Hi all
Turns out it was a bad connector. Kropatchek was right.
The batery side of the reg/rectifier had a bad connection at the plug/connector. It was melted or corroded - I'm not sure which. I was calling around to buy one and a friend said "why not clean the plug and re-test". So I did and it works fine! After all that.
Thanks for all the help. I guess I shoulda really checked all the connections instead of the halfway job I did. Woulda saved me a lot of time and you guys too.
Danny
