Hi folks, from a new member!

I just recently bought a Savage to ride with my husband. (He has a C50, wants me to ride with him - and I can't stand being a passenger)  I am just now learning to ride - it's a bit intimidating for a person who has aways been afraid of motorcycles.....yet strangely fun......  I am glad you all are here.  As for the financial help, I hope to contribute next month.   Would that be okay?

Congratulations, from me and my wife, WDO. Lisa, AKA, Witch Doctor's Owner... Grin

She says you just made the best decisions of your motorcycling lives, nothing like your own machine to make it enjoyable. She also says "PS, cornstarch works best"  ??? She also said y'all will figure that one out soon enough...

MSF course is probably a good idea. Wouldn't know personally, I learned the "old school" way, bought a bike, crashed a few times, improved with mileage. Lisa learned the same way, still has gravel in her knee from her first bike, a 1971 Honda CL100 thumper.

Be careful, the Savage will get under your skin like mold gets on a bathroom window ledge...  Grin

We seem to be getting quite a few new ladies to the forum.  Welcome to all!  One of the main advantages to learning in an MSF course is there's no argument at home later.  If you do something stupid you are surrounded by strangers and most of them will end up doing something equally stupid before the class is over.  The front seat of any motorcycle is much, much, much more comfortable than the passenger seat.  Once you get the hang of it you will never want to ride behind again.  But keep cornstarch in mind, I would have never thought of that (thanks WD).

Sam, That would be great but don't feel like you have to -- it is totally a voluntary thing. Welcome to the site. Don't hesitate to ask questions and jump into any conversation -- its a friendly bunch.

P.S. to Deb -- Welcome to you too!

Savage is definitely a good choice for a first bike, learner bike, commuter bike, or, if you are less than 6 feet tall, primary bike.

Susan, Lisa says you're welcome.

She also says for the new riders to go to an empty parking lot, go about 5 or so miles an hour, and lock up the back brake. Work up to 30, slowly. You'll need to panic stop eventually, better get in some practice. You won't freak out as much when you KNOW how the bike is likely to respond.
