My search goes on, I've found another good looking savage(and no not a new girlfriend   ).
The bike looks great except the exhaust which is blueish/black and has bad chrome all the way back.
Is this something to be alarmed of, overheated engine?

It seems to me being a newbie among savages, the exhaust is changed on this one(not the original).

Pipe blueing is fairly common on a Savage. When I bought mine the previous owner had put on a Jardine slip on and it was only slightly discolored. The header pipe  is blue on almost all Savages. So I don't think it would be a problem with the Savage you are looking at.

I changed my header, so I don't know.  But my spouses header is still just fine with a SuperTrapp.  The key is doing the rejetting along with the pipe change.  

Even a rejetting to stop the backfires with the stock pipe will stop the bluing.

The completely stock setup will turn blue with time.

The amber color is kinda nice.  Shows that the engine is working.  It's the blue that can get kinda ugly looking.

It might be different if the pipe was stainless steel then the blue would be expected.  But a double walled chrome pipe just doesn't seem right.

Hmmm, just imagine if the pipe were single wall stainless with the same outside diameter  

I was to buy this one..or another savage.
Money was ready, just waiting for the right bike.
THEN my girlfriends car was stolen and wrecked and the insurance wasn't covering theft.
This means we had to buy her another car instead of a bike(and yes a car is more important, especially since the bikers season here in sweden is at its best 4months). :'(
Soo the plans for a savage has to, for the moment, be put on ice.
I'll be back in a year or two when we may afford a bike again.
And yes, it WILL be a savage!

I wouldn't be suprised if thats just a truck exhaust tip on there. Looks like the out turn pipe for one. Someone has been creative.

Blueing is caused by heat, I think it is a consequence of running hard and lean. Mine is hardly blue at all after 25000 km but I run it pretty easy. Some of them blue and others don't, it could be something to do with the double wall pipe, Suzuki probably went with a double wall to avoid this, maybe drilling small holes in the outer pipe to let air circulate would help.
My muffler developed a blue band near the back after about 5000km and then cracked at the mount. I got a new one on warranty and before installing it I drove a 5/8 steel rod thru from the rear. It got rid of the hissing from too much back pressure and hasn't turned blue at all.
