oil leak.. need part number...
12/26/04 at 23:10:55

Hey everyone  Grin,
New to this board and need a little help.  I just got my engine overhauled (which just cost me about as much as I paid for the bike $$$ :'( ), anyways the shop lost the famous oil seal for the speedometer cable, and now they can't figure out the part number for it.   They don't even know what it looks like..I live in Japan so if I tell them what kind of seal it is they probably won't understand..Does anyone know the part number for this?
thanks,
Somer

Hope someone has the answer because I have had no success in finding a part number. I have been told by two dealers that they "think" the seal would be included with a new cable.

Good luck!

There is no part number - Suzuki won't sell it without selling the complete speedometer cable - for the shop that lost it, they need to put out some of their own money to replace it (or they could look under the starter motor - folks have found it under there before!)

Sorry to hear that you lost the ring of the speedo cable.
Indeed there's no separate partnumber for the seal.
Look for an O-ring of the proper diameter and as per hoghunter's suggestion look underneathe the startermotor.

Here's a good place to at least look for parts.

I lost mine once like just about everyone else whoever removed the cable and true to form it was under the starter.
