Very nice.

I tried to get the "HotFix" name, but it was taken.

It was my first eBay bid - almost had it.  I'm such a newbie.

Nice score Guitar... I decided to lay off it when I saw you had started bidding on it the other day. No need to make a fellow member of ours pay more I figure. Heck I was rooting for you to get it for the $150!

Hotfix... you gave him way too much time and too much notice. Ya gotta learn to snipe. Go in with your bestest and mostest price and one time.... final minutes.

He bidded over me after 9 seconds and left < 5 seconds on the auction.  I had no chance.

Yea but what you did was tell him your next bid was not that much over where it was... by bidding several times trying to find his top bid. And you established that you were bidding in small increments. So he knew to just add a few bucks and snipe you back. Which he did... He put his in with no time left and he sorta knew how much to go up to get you. Because you established a pattern.

He cost me $58 with 3 minutes to go!!!   Grin

I bid the $150 about 3 days before the auction, just to "mark my territory."  The min bid was $150 anyway, so I hoped it might discourage anybody here that knew me. (It didn't, completely, bot HotFix is new here and I've not been posting much lately, so I can forgive him  Wink )

About 3 hours before the auction ended I thought I was going to have to leave the house for a while, so I bid up to 202.56 (If I remember right) just in case.

Then I found that plans were cancelled and so I sat by the PC for the few hours, with the auction page open and pressing F5 every few minutes. I was doing other stuff in the meantime.

With five minutes to go I began to give it my earnest interest.

With three minutes to go HotFix began bumping it up a few bucks at a time.   With about a minute to go I decided how much more I wanted to go.  I tried to buy one of these at full price last spring at $300+ dollars so I decided to bid up to $250.  After my bid went in, I think HF bid one more time (I'm at work and can't check it since it's blocked) and that was it.  I got it for $208.00

If I hadn't thought I was going out earlier, I've have waited until 20 seconds then bid $225 and probably could have gotten it for $160.

When it comes to sniping on Ebay, I'm an old hand.   I've lost a few in that game, but I almost always win. 8)

It wasn't my intent to make you spend more gitarzan nor did I realize you had bid on it until I saw the posts here.

I guess eBay lesson #2 is not to get in a bidding war with your buddy - check first.  Smiley

I'm just kidding about that stuff.   I'm glad I got it of course, BUT if I didn't, I'd rather it be one of "youse" guys than anyone else.

Cheesy

Besides, there is no unwritten rule here about eBay.  It was fair game for all.   If I'd lost, I'd haved lived.   Tongue

Anything under 250 was a great deal.

I woulda and did guess you would have gone 250. I woulda bid 259.99 at the last second. But since I saw you early on staking it out. I just let it go. Had it been anyone else but someone here.... I woulda gone for it.

You got a good deal. Those are not available anymore from what I know. So finding a brand new one and for way under MSRP.... is a great find.

Thank you for stepping aside.  I do appreciate the consideration.

Not a problem Guitar.... people have done it for me. And recently I might add.  And thats why I always tell people to use something recognizable on all boards and ebay. So we can take care of each other. In fact a few people stepped aside on a tasty item for me a few weeks back. So we gotta watch each others back. So we don't end up paying to much. It's all for play so no need to make it expensive. I am cphilipao on eBay. close enough people recognize it.

I've seen others here on eBay and enjoyed watching the battle.

I'll see stuff that I know is going to have a bidding war and I'll just sit and watch and keep on tapping the F5 key.  I've done a lot of eBaying for cameras and guitar stuff and have had my butt out-sniped several times.  I remember once there was an item that I really wanted and I mistyped something at the last second... I lost.  Funny thing is I don't even remember what I was bidding on now.  If you don't watch out, it can have almost a gambling type of thrill to it.
