Extreme Makeover -  my rear end

Before:

After:

I got the OEM bag supports, the River Road bags and the OEM license bracket on e-bay.  The bullet turn signals/running lights came from my local cycle supply store.

8)Hey nice job! Especially love the bullet-style signals and the orange paint job!
BTW, one of my fave singer/songwriters, power-pop maistro Matthew Sweet is from Lincoln, Nebraska ... ever heard of 'em?

Perry, Lincoln is a fairly small community - 225,000 or so.  The Lincoln music community (of which I am a member - as a working bass player) is correspondingly small - so, yes indeed I know Matthew Sweet.  I'm not in his peer group, being an old f@rt, but knew him before he was "Matthew Sweet".  I'm proud of him - small town boy makes good and all that.

Gitarzan, thanks for the compliment(?) but that's not my butt.  My 18-yr old son is acting as a center stand for the photos.  And he is skinny as a rail.   Smiley

8)Well that's so cool bassman ... I'm a bit of "a fart" myself at 44, but I love music (play a bit of guitar), particularly the "power pop" sound since discovering Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Cheap Trick, etc. back in the late 70's.
I have several of Matt's albums and think he is a real craftsman ... much under-rated and under-appreciated IMHO. If you ever see him around, please give him my regards and tell him that we'd love to see him play up here in St. John's, Newfoundland.
BTW, what kinda music are you into? Does your band have a website?

Nice clean work on that "restore" job.  Looks good.

I agree about the running lights on the rear turn signals.  That mod was one of the first that I did on mine.  I think there is a lot more visibility with the added lighting.  I don't know why Suzuki has running lights on the front turn signals but not on the back, too.

The turn signals are only available in complete units (I think), so to save the expense, I bought new sockets at the auto supply store and rewired them.

Here is the difference between stock and modified (plus, I get to show off our vanity plates Smiley  I also put some LEDS on my spouse's bags, but they still aren't as bright.

8)Whoa!! That's one of the nicest Bob-Job's I've ever seen on an LS650! Go with a chrome front fender man ... for a truely unique look. BTW sluggo, what year is your Savage? Is that an '04? If so, ya didn't waste any time cuttin' 'er up man!

my 04 custom.   it was my intention all along to chop it.

i looked over the galleries on both this and berts forum and knew what i wanted.

thats the beauty of this machine. low initial cost, easily customized, virtually bulletproof drive train. 8)

the chrome fender came off my old thumper the gn400, it's a half fender with the other half plastic. where the surfaces mate there was two indents,  the same indents i used to drill the holes to fit holes in 650 frame.
they really haven't changed that much. between the two machines. i'll just have to fabricate a new front fender bracket to make it chrome.

i know it's no "american chopper", it's better because i did it the way i wanted it.  Grin and spent about a 10th the cost.

Great job on both bikes, (bassman, and Sluggo).  Sluggo, could you post a more direct side view shot of your bike?  I'd like to see the "line" of your bike.   That bike looks awesome.  And Bassman, where's that new windshield????
