sounds like a pretty good deal to me. if it's a SOHC from 69 to 78, those are in demand for old style chopper builds.

Some of you may know and some not but I refinish and restore Lambretta and Vespa scooters. So I always have some of them around not to mention lots of parts of them. I currently have a T5 Vespa I am about to strip down for paint but am running around town on. And I have a Lambretta serveta Jet 200 I am finishing the wiring on. And several more frames and motors and a bunch of parts laying around. I also have the Savage and a Yamaha Virago 250 (the kids ride).

I have always wanted to have a hobby in repairing bikes. Just never made it happen. Hmmmm....

Well me too. So I started on these because they simple and some of them are relatively cheap. For instance I picked up two frame and boxes and boxes of parts and one running scooter from one guy for $1700..... instant hobby! Cheesy

And slowly find a running scooter needs some work for like a grand. Next thing you know you got four or five of them> And these simple systems are easly to learn. Two stroke and cables. Very simple and take up small space.

I've also wanted to repair other people's bikes on the side. Or install after-market stuff for people that don't know how and don't want to mess with a dealership.

I'd like to buy a couple "bikes in a box" too. A couple enduros to putter around on. My spouse has never done that....and I'd like to do it again, myself, though I know the days of "shooting the berm" are gone pretty much Sad

The 1000 and 750 are faster beyond a doubt and the seats are waaaay more comfortable but the savage just has something the others dont.

I own a Savage , a 1340 softail and a gsxr 750.
I use the 3 of them , but i go to all morotcycles meeting on the Savage , that makes me unique jeje 8)

People dont mind looking at my big , long, expensive harley ,
... they dont mind looking at my sharpened sport bike...
-.-.- but the Savage.. woowww .. that is a strange and peculiar bike.

2005 Honda GL1800 For long, two-up trips
2001 Honda ST1100 For long, solo trips
2001 Suzuki LS650 Daily rider, errands
1990 Yamaha YZ250 Used to race it, selling it soon

Out of all my bikes, I put the most miles on the Gold Wing, but the Savage is the only daily rider.....I don't put big miles on it, but I do spend a lot of time in its saddle. I hardly ever drive a car anymore. Great bike and fun!

I've been riding for 35 years and am approaching 300,000 miles lifetime.

Previous bikes:

1970 Honda CT70
1974 Can Am 175 T'NT
1975 Suzuki GT750 (Water Buffalo- Sold at 25,000 miles)
1977 Yamaha XS750 (Silver Bird - Sold at 50,000 miles)
1981 Honda GL1100 (Gold Wing - Sold at 125,000 miles)
1981 Honda GL500 (Silver Wing - Sold at 10,000 miles)
1992 BMW R100RT (Sold at 15,000 miles)

The Savage is the only the second bike I've ever bought used (the CT70 was the other used bike I've bought....from my Dad). It had 75 miles on it!
