Improved the ride... a LOT

The Hagon shocks arrived and what a difference!  Hagon recommends 23kg springs for the LS650, but I chose the next softer spring rate (20kg) on the basic black-bodied damper.  These are about as soft as I'd go for my 170# weight.  Set to the maximum preload, the ride is very supple with full wheel travel and 'no hammering' on rough pavement.  I can now roll over a recessed manhole cover, raised pavement joint, or roadway crack, and not feel a jolt up my spine.  The rear wheel is under control, too, and stays glued to the road so the bike really handles the twisties.

Note: The S40 apparently has larger diameter shock posts than earlier LS650s.  This factory upgrade may have happened prior to the S40, so measure yours when ordering so that Dave can ship the correct bushings.

I've no connection with Hagon or Quinn, I'm just a happy camper.

The standard 'chrome springs over black dampers' are $179 a pair, and worth every nickel.

With the stock shocks every setting is harsh. I think they are sprung for a potential 300# rider.

With the softer springs on the Hagons, 3-clicks is nirvana (170# rider).  The standard Hagon springs are a little stiffer and may not require any preload.

I was looking at Performance Suspension's site last night and they had a listing for about everything but a Savage/BLVD. I may ask Santa for a set  of chromey ones.

I had the same luck with Progressive Suspension, too.  It looks like Hagon are the only game in town for the LS650.

Now, I want new shocks.  I'm sure the Hagons are real step up too since you can get springs specifically for your rider weight.  Nice to know the Savage40 is listed.  Aftermarket stuff for the bike has really improved in 4 years.

There is another choice too....

With these guys you may have to measure your shocks, mounting posts and bolts, and travel to get what you need.
