Really? No kidding? If you are serious, we may have to take this off list.....so that I can send pictures easily.
Step 2 - remove the starter, the little cover plate at the rear of the engine, the rubber carb mount, the retaining ring around the final drive output seal, the decompression lever hardware on the top...hmmmm, what else? Remove everything that you don't want painted. When I did it, I removed the side cases to get rid of wires and to prevent painting the cases together...then I put them back on with little washer spacers.
Step 3 - Hang the engine somehow so that you can get all around it. It weighs 115 pounds, so I hung it from the joists in the basement with eye bolts, straps and the 2 stock engine mounts. Get it about chest high. Can you do that?
Step 4 - go to a parts store and get 2-3 cans of Dupli-Color High Heat Ceramic engine black paint (1200 degrees). It isn't a flat or glossy black...sort of semi gloss, and it dries with a slight warm brown tint (kinda looks hot). Get some 200 grit wet dry sanding cloth, Scotch Brite, and paint thinner (a gallon because you have some cleaning to do).
