Choke problem
07/30/04 at 13:06:49

The choke knob on my friend's Savage keeps moving out when she rides. Is there an adjustment (spring?) of some sort. She has to push it back in every time she stops. I'm sure it's something simple to fix but I rather know what to look for before taking it apart. Thanks

Jen,

Go to Bikebandit.com  they've got schematics and parts for the bike.  You can see an exploded view and maybe see what you need there.

I've ordered OEM parts from them B4.  Their prices seem OK to me.

There are "detents" on the choke shaft and a spring to keep the assembly seated properly.  Obviously these have become worn and the spring is ejecting the knob from vibration.  It is not hard to remove the assembly for an inspection.

I'll send you a copy of the scanned carb breakdown offlist.  That may help.

I know this is an old topic but I have almost the same problem. The difference is that mine jumps back when I pull it out. So can you send me that carb breakdown offlist too? It would be cool to check it out before I mess with the carb (again).
