Insurance
05/03/04 at 20:19:18

Hi all! I am a new Savage owner. Just bought a 2002 for my first bike on Saturday. I love her.

I am looking for insurance and am kinda confused about coverage.  Anyone have any advice on amounts? Companies? I really don't know how much coverage I need.

Thanks.

Go to Bikeline.com or Progressive.  Full coverage for a 2001 Savage is about $180 a year.  I'm 30 years old with one "not my fault" wreck. Grin

What kind of coverage amounts do you recommend?

Realistically, I wouldn't get too much.  If I read mine correctly, It'll pay for up to 20000 bodily injury, and 15000 property damage.  I also have a $255 deductible.  This is all through BikeLine.  If you think about it, if you do over 15000 in property damage, then you're probably dead anyway! Due to the fact that Royal/SunAlliance is pulling it's coverage from the States, my agent went looking for new car/home insurance - I asked for her to also look for bike insurance.  A company called Auto Owners Insurance will be getting my business - the cost for the two cars and two bikes is lower than what we were paying for two cars without any loss of coverage.

They aren't in all the States, but check them out - it might be worth it.  They are based out of Lansing, MI.

Well, this may be dated, bu the topic is real fresh in my mind....

Went with Progressive, and they stuck me for an additional/adjusted $400 for a wreck "I" caused... sucks, she was at fault, but...  Lips Sealed

Needless to say, what really irks me is the Uninsured Motorist... $458 a year just for this!  Angry

What is this country coming too.

Wolf

.... needless to say, I need to look at my coverages   stacked vrs unstacked... I never had issues with my car, but the bike is ... well  difficult to undersatnd...

1000$ for the year here in canada. We get flippin ripped of by motorcycle insurance companies. If your economy wasnt in such shambles I would move to the US just for cheaper MC insurance.

Went with Progressive-
$250,000 Bodily Injury per person $500,000 each accident
$100,000 property damage liability per accident.

I figure if I cause more that $1,000 in damages to someone else I won't be around to sweat it.

$89 per year.  $81 if I paid it all up front.  I can't complain about that.

(Local property tax is $12.50/year - wish I could drive it year round)

I got Geico.  $120 a year.  Liability only, 100K.  Policy is separate from my home/auto which was 2 times as much adding it.

If a guy can manage 100,00 in damage with a bike, he aint likely to need any medical. That was a Big REKK!

The AMA has partnered with Nationwide Insurance. You also receive a 1 year free membership to the American Motorcyclist Association (including their monthly magazine, discounts, free Roadside Assistance etc.). I thought it was a good deal.

I dont remember all the numbers but i'm paying $110.'ish i think per year for full coverage. Geico.
If you're Insurance shopping remember to tell them you took the MSF safety class and you can get 10% off.
Geico wanted no proof what-so-ever about the MSF class, No cert# or anything.. She just happily knocked 10% off on my say so. Smiley
