How to get Tank off?
08/28/03 at 17:03:55

SmileyJust bought a brand new Savage and love it so far! Anyhoo, my owners manual mentions that in order to service the spark plug (i.e. for winter storage) then the fuel tank must come off for access ... but the procedure for this outlined in the manual is pretty skimpy. Exactly how does one go about this? What about the fuel line and the connections to the speedo? Is tank removal difficult and/or time consuming?
Thanks in advance!
Keep on Thumpin'!!

It takes ab. 15 minutes to take off the tank. U should begin from seat screws.

Hi Guys, just saying hi....

Hi Perry, this is Chench from BB. I love my Savage. One day I'll take the tank off for some reason or other, but for now, don't need to.

Perry, how did you register? I can't seem to register?

Happy New Year all....

Chench

Just this week I had my tank off. One tip I have is this. When you have the hoses off the petcock and the tank unbolted and ready to slide back, rotate the tank slightly to the left. That is to the petcock side. This will help the petcock clear the frame when you slide tank back to remove.
