Title: Intruder 800 electrical issues
Post by KenG on 11/11/23 at 09:42:58

Hello Everyone.  I am Ken and own a 1994 Intruder 800 and having electrical issues since purchase 2 years ago.  After an hour of riding a few days ago, it backfired and died.  Tried to restart had nothing.  An hour later, after turning on ignition, The panel lights came on, dim at first then brightened up.  I pressed the starter and got nothing.  I did notice, when I turned the ignition on, a slight buzzing sound coming from the side stand relay.  I disconnected it, bypassed it and tried starting again and still nothing.  Also found the ignition fuse blown and one of the three yellow leads from the regulator to the magneto had slightly melted where they clip together.  Replaced the fuse, cut out the melted junction, spliced wires back together, tried starting again and still nothing.  At this point, when I turn on ignition, panel lights and headlight comes on, no turn lights or brake light, still have buzzing noise from side stand relay and nothing when I hit the starter button.  Any thoughts would be much appreciated

This is not an 800 forum - most of us know nothing about these bikes.

Have you checked your battery for voltage....both at rest and while your are cranking the engine over?

Batteries can go bad in an instant, and it could be the voltage dropped below what it takes to power the ignition system.  (There can be sufficient voltage to run the starter - but not enough to provide spark).
