Title: Custom retro thumper style Savage
Post by Allen on 08/15/23 at 16:23:14

My Dad built this when he first retired because his BSA 500 was getting difficult to start. He styled it after the British thumpers he's always liked and I think it looks the part. Unfortunately he's decided to hand up riding completely and I already have five bikes (two were his).

I'm looking to sell this for him and I'd rather not deal with eBay if I can avoid it. I'm picking it up in Massachusetts this weekend and bringing it home to the Philadelphia area next week. Clear Massachusetts title. Make offer.

That is a very nice bike - I had posted it in the Bike Builds section many years ago.

It’s just too far away, very nice build. I love my happy button too ! I love the use of the double leading front brake and Akron’s style rims. Attention to the details , the extra mile.

Thanks. I thought I had posted it on here but I wasn't sure. Hopefully I can find a good home for it.

Cool pictures Allen.  Good luck with the sale.

It would be awesome if you could create a simple build thread with those pictures for others to see.  Also, I would love to put the mid-control pictures in a thread we have here.  He did those a bit differently than most on here.  Pretty neat.

Allen, Nice looking build, kudos to your father. I already have too many Savages/S40's but.... So I have an acquaintance who recently got back into riding after his son got a bike and started to ride. He and his son went  and took the MSF Basic course together and both got their licenses. He is looking for a bike to ride with his son. I have talked with him about the Savage and it is a bike he is interested in.

I showed him some pictures of yours and he liked it. I said I would reach out to you to get more info. First question is what is the price range you are thinking? He is in central NJ so not far from Philly area.

Since communicating through the forum for new members is difficult, if you can reach out to me through this thread I will put you in contact.
