Speedhut has speedos/tachs on sale right now. Suzuki could still do this and join Triumph/Royal Enfield/Honda in bringing back 'standard' bikes. I'm still trying to get used to the foot forward set up on my Bobber set up. All my previous bikes had more rear set pegs. |

Also, the seat supports could have been welded in place, but bolts are cheaper than a welder! Still needs some smoothing out of rough edges, but I have all summer! Cheers! 8-) |

Post by zipidachimp on 06/30/23 at 21:47:43 Thanks all. the stance is the result of the following: rear shocks are 12.5". front is lowered 35mm using a DC MOTIVE top tree and sliding up the fork tubes, 18" front wheel. Understeer is gone ! Handlebars are Amazon Sportsters, 26" wide, really nice! It's really a ten-foot bike that I'll smooth out this summer. Cheers! 8-) |

Title: Re: Done ! Final ! Post by zipidachimp on 07/02/23 at 00:31:06 Hi: I'm aware of the problem. I have zip ties on each leg to keep my eye on the clearance. With the DC Motive clamp. I keep all of the stock dive allowance, and don't have to mess with the tubes. I'm amazed how much better the bike feels in corners. The 18" wheel is a winner ! On one of my rides, there is a right turn with a 200 degree hook. The 19" wheel wanted to put me into oncoming traffic, the 18" wheel stays where I put it. Cheers! 8-) |

Post by ohiomoto on 07/02/23 at 05:52:54 Since such modifications could lead to catastrophic failure, a better and safer idea would be to pull the top caps and make sure the forks bottom out before the lowers make contact with the triple clamp. Fifteen minutes might save a life. I'm of the opinion that it's the bike builder's responsibility to make sure the motorcycle is still safe for anyone who might ride it or be on it. It would be nicer if DC MOTIVE took the time to test the product and supply the end user with the maximum amount of adjustment that still maintains clearance. RYCA's original travel reducing method was safe. It reduced travel while maintaining stock clearances. Raising the forks in the triple clamp (or shorting the tubes as I did) maintains full travel while reducing stock clearances. You retain the forks full travel but the stakes are higher with this method. The zip tie method is great for telling you how much travel you have used not the best way to test how much clearance you'll have when it bottoms out. Another method would be to lift the front end of the bike and measure the exposed fork tube with the folks fully extended. Since the stock forks are claimed to have X travel you should be safe if you have more than X, but confirming the actual result of the modification would be best. |

The frame horns are a major pain, but I needed to save the M8 bolt holes. I'll try and post some pics of how I did mine. It includes the use of a band saw(ha!) Cheers! 8-) |
