Title: Re: Rebuild my bike Post by Arhardy27 on 03/22/23 at 06:51:23 I'm in ky. I figured changing the filters and spark would be a good start. Then the transmission and head. |
Title: Re: Rebuild my bike Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/22/23 at 08:25:39 If it doesn't run, changing oil is a waste. If you're going to have to take it apart to work on the transmission, the oil gets drained. What is wrong with it? |
Title: Re: Rebuild my bike Post by Arhardy27 on 03/22/23 at 09:03:46 Its completely apart down to the frame |
Title: Re: Rebuild my bike Post by ThumperPaul on 03/22/23 at 12:53:02 If you aren’t really in love with the idea of trying to rebuild it while going through a divorce, I’d sell it for parts on eBay. You’ll probably do very well. Then get yourself a decent running bike with the proceeds. Personally, I wouldn’t want to try to completely rebuild a bike especially while going through a divorce. But that’s just me. Hope things work out for you. |

Why did you take the motorcycle this far apart? Transmission trouble on the Savage is very rare.....unless you are DragBikeMike! ;) I read your other posts - changing the oil and filters on a bike that is completely apart is probably not the best place to start.....assembly is the right path to follow. We are willing to help - but there is not much we can do without knowing exactly what condition your motorcycle is currently in. I am in northern KY and am really familiar with how a Savage comes apart and goes back together - but assembling/repairing a motorcycle that is completely apart can take a very long time....especially if the parts are removed and the bike is a "basket case". In one post you stated you wanted to build a trike as you have trouble holding a bike up.....is repairing this motorcycle worthwhile if you won't be able to ride it? Can you post some pictures of your project? Dave |
Title: Re: Rebuild my bike Post by DragBikeMike on 03/23/23 at 13:56:17 The plot thickens on those tranny woes brother Dave. More to come. I agree with Dave. More info please. Background, pictures, etc. was the bike running? Did you ever ride the bike? |
