David Vizard has a YouTube video about it. He says that a different approach that works better is available.
He promotes

He says zinc was the answer, fifty years ago...

Might be exaggerating just a tad.

Might be, IDK..
Never heard the results of too much zinc before..
He says lifters will craze with excess zinc. Meh,, until further notice, I'm going with that.
I've watched several of his videos. Uncle Tony has a 318 in Vizards shop.

I have read that oil with over 1,400- 1,500ppm of ZDDP can be damaging as the oil becomes corrosive. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/the-toolbox/zinc-additive-for-oil-how-much-zddp-is-enough/32478

I still believe that oils like Rotella that has 1,200 ppm of ZDDP will provide the lubrication that is needed.

I am pretty much done worrying about oils.........I just keep Rotella on the shelf and in the crankcase.

Yeah, why argue with what is proven to work?
