Title: Happy New Year 2023
Post by MMRanch on 12/31/22 at 06:50:39

Happy New years fellers !

I'm wishing everybody a SAFE and LONG Ridding season to some new and neat places this year !

I've replaced the S-40 with a 350 version for my "Thumper" last year , but I still have the Guzzi (two cylinder THUMPER) with the big fuel tank.  Don't know where I'll go this year just yet ... but ... warm weather ain't here yet either .    :)

One place might be "Big Bend National Park" , but I haven't found a place to stay near there ?

Thanks Versey !  :)
...........................................

YouzGuyz , I suspect you'll be driving that Whale like a high sprited dirt bike by the end of the summer ?   :)
..........................................

We (Marcia and me) took a nice Guzzi ride today up the mountain to her mom's for Blackeye peas and cornbread.

It was 68 deg. and SUNNY down in the  valley on the way there ... we froze on the way back after dark !   Well , until I got into the saddle bags and pulled out the electric gloves  ;) .
What a nice NEW YEARS DAY  3 hour ride !

I don't know.  The "problem" is I still love riding all 3 bikes.

When I am playing off the beaten path, I need to feel that I can get out of what I got into.   The Whale doesn't back up very easily!!!

The Whale and the Savages are just sooo different.  Weight, turning radius, power, etc.  Switching back and forth compromises my ability to ride either extremely well.
I shall bear the burden..  8-)

Pics from 12/31/2022 and 01/02/2023.

I completely understand !   ;)
The RE Meteor - Sits , Feels , Handles just like a new version of the Savage  ... The Guzzi is a totally different animal !

Lets see :
Springman has : the S-40 and the 1100 Honda
Dave has :  the little BMW and the Big BMW
Lancer has/had : the REX and a Sportster
Versey ... Do you have more than one kind of CREATURE ?   :-?  or are you the only "sensible" one I know of  ??
I'm not sure about the other's here ???

I do get tired of the need to sharpen up on my skills when I stop driving my Karmann Ghia and get in my 642 HP Vette,, it's just a constant hassle, but that is just how it is..

You really got a  642 HP Vette ?

My neighbor had the VW , it must have had 50Hp ... maybe a few more ?

no
I don't even have a Volkswagen..

My pickup has been down for seven years. The woman who knocked my bike out frummunda me killed my bike. I've got all the stuff to put a savage together except smooth forks. I've got some rusty ones.. And the seals in the forks that snapped off in the wreck are New,, but did they get screwed up getting stuck in the side of a car rolling 45mph?

Define “sensible”

70 BSA 500 Flat Tracker , 80 Yamaha SR500 , 86 Honda TLR200 Reflex , 96 Suzuki Street Tracker , 02 H/D XL883R Screamin Eagle

I’m sure I’m missing at least one other , not here at this place , IDK
Wanna say 71 BSA 250 Victor

Reserve the right to buy more at anytime !  ;D

A buddy is building a Kawi H2 and I’m sick with jealousy, I really want one.
I figure I’ll help him build it , spend all his cash on the best stuff , then steal it ! He won’t even suspect me , right ! ::)

Happy New Year!

The weather has been unusually warm for January in KY - and the roads are not covered in salt!

I have been able to sneak some rides in while the weather has been in the 50's (we were at -7 a couple of days before Christmas.  I don't ever remember being able to ride in January any other year.

Well, it's mud season in Cali.

3rd week of rain has prompted concrete barriers to be placed to divert any potential mud flows into areas that can be easily cleared.

yeah.

Hay Versey

Our local new is reporting the "Mud Season" as "O-my-Gosh" !!!  :o :o :o
With no end in sight ...

So

Mud Season happens every year from what I remember .   Do ya think its "Over-Reported" ?
..............................

Its Cold and Rainy here in TN.   With a few 50-60 deg./dry - days that call for a mid afternoon trip.

Me and Marcia enjoyed a nice long New Years Day ride.   The warmest New Years Day I can remember.
But
The week before and the week after Winter was letting us know what time of year it REALLY is !

I walked over yesterday and took a look at what happened the night before...
not much, 10-20 feet on 1 side of rock and sand.
and this is the 3rd year after a major fire above me.
1st year was serious, 4 blocks of mud on both sides between concrete barriers.
1st block has a lot of slope to project the mud down the street.

for areas with a fresh fire, if not planned for the mud flow can be devastating.
There's no stopping it once it starts moving.

yes, I'd say over-reported as my area isn't worth reporting this year, but it was.
But they also report earthquakes under magnitude 4, that's an everyday occurrence or like a truck passing by.

Just wait till all that snow melts ! The golf course across the street managed to loose 30 trees from muddy ground and 70 mph winds , it looks like a war zone.
