Or lane filtering, at least. Progress is progress.

Yeah cool,... but I'm going to let other riders get people used to it before I venture forward.
There might be some road rage incidents...  :-?

Ohh,yeah, the Constipated Hall Monitor psyche. If I have to sit here through three lights to get up there, you should too.
We sometimes watch the bad driver videos. I saw someone open a door on a biker just oozing through. Been a long time ago and I've only Seen it once.
Be Ye careful!

It's still illegal in Nevada.

I am not willing to risk my life to get there sooner.  Lane splitting is a riding method that I will never use (legal or not).

Car drivers who want to change lanes will be looking at the cars around them - they have no ability to see a motorcycle coming at them between the lanes when the motorcycle is traveling 2-3 times his speed.

Motorcycles are dangerous enough - there is no reason to make it even harder to get somewhere safely.

Good video and he's right, he's going way too fast.
IF he was going the appropriate speed, he would've been able to slow down in 1 car length as it's happened to me many times.
So it's happened to me many times... and you say it's dangerous so why do it?
Just as many times I've been pushed out of the lane I was traveling in, following traffic.
So no matter where you are in the road, it's dangerous.
But for every 10mph faster than traffic, subtract 1 car length of safety buffer.

In Philadelphia, and I assume any other major metro east coast city, if you are not lane splitting/filtering you are putting yourself in danger sitting in traffic -- its a necessity as much as it is a convenience -- You will be pushed out of a lane, police literally do not respond to accidents unless there is serious injury, the vast majority of drivers run after an incident. It's totally unrealistic not to filter/split.

I generally only lane split when the cars are stopped at a red light, or if the traffic is almost at a standstill, under 5mph, and I go slow, maybe 10mph faster than traffic.

That sounds like the closest to safe way. That's The only way I would do it. And even then I'd be nervous.

Az law says only when cars are stopped and no faster than 15mph.
