Hi!
Recently purchased a 2000 LS650P that according to the service book hadn't been serviced in 10 years. Front brake near non-functional. Changed brake fluid and bled the brake, now slightly better but nowhere near good enough. Will tear down both master cylinder and caliper and rebuild them, as well as replace the old rubber line with a stainless steel braided brake line.

Now to my question: Can anyone confirm the fittings on the brake line? Is it AN3, 10mm banjo on both ends with 0 degree angle at the MC and 20 degree angle at the caliper?

AN3 are all english threading, so I wouldn't order it by that.

threads are M10x1.00x22

as far as the angles go... sounds about right.

For future readers: AN3/4 refers to the diameter or the tubing.
"AN3 is used on high pressure between master cylinder and brake caliper or slave cylinder. AN4 is used on low pressure side from master cylinder to reservoir or bleeding line on slave cylinder." That said, AN4 can be used for high pressure as well, it just takes a bit more fluid if I understand correctly. Odds are that AN3 is closest to the OEM tubing on the Savage though.

I'm sorry to disagree but AN3 thru 20 refers to an old military specification for a similar banjo bolt and not the referred tubing.

There may be another spec that cross references these bolts to be used with certain fittings but that requirement is not listed there.

Verslagen, you are absolutely right if talking about the fittings - which is what I was initially asking about. That standard is derived from the US military for fittings with threading, but the tubing used with them can apparently also be used with metric banjo fittings.
Sorry for confusing things, everyone, the first question I got from the place where I'm ordering from was whether to use AN3 or AN4 tubing. I've placed the order, will update this thread once I've been able to rebuild the mc and caliper and test the brake line.

I'm needing to replace my brake line also. I'm new to this, so could you please list again exactly which parts you bought with specs and the length of the hose? I have the flat/drag handlebars. Do you have the flat or pullback?
