Title: Kindle being quirky
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/17/22 at 09:45:40

When I try to send an email, or type the title for a new thread, the area I'm trying to type in gets the FBI solid black line treatment. And on the left side of the black line there is a white key. Click the key, nothing..
Why is my Kindle redacting what I have not even typed yet?

How many times did you say the "T" word?   :-X

He who must not be named will get you on a special watch list.

I swear, I didn't do it in front of a mirror. I sure didn't say it and turn around.

Sixty years ago hearing that skeert me. I've heard it and survived being in Truuuuble so many times I hardly even cringe and look over my shoulders any more. Much.

JOG ,  you could reset it to original factory settings. You lose all your info. Just go to settings ,device options, reset to factory defaults.

Yeah, I forgot about that option. It's a hassle,, I need to get my login stuff written down so I can get back in here, and my email stuff, sure not looking forward to that, but that is looking like the answer.
Thanks

After you reset it, you can sign back on and it'll download everything again.
(Except the non-Amazon downloads, if you have any. I have found they are less glitchy if you don't put many off service books on it.)

I don't download stuff. I have a few PDF on it, but it's not full of Fun stuff, no games, I don't do pictures, I don't have books on it, thanks for telling me what you know, cuz I'm not comfortable pushing the button. I'm frustrated with what it takes to work around it, and when I get enough, I'll Do It.
Right now I don't have to enter a code to turn it on. It took me quite a while to get rid of that. IDK if I can again..
Ahh, being technologically ignernt is a drag.

JOG, you might want to try clearing your browser history before you try to reset. Just go to history, then click the little trash can in the upper right of the page. Don't select passwords to be cleared , just check off everything else. You might have to hit the advanced tab at the top of the page..then select clear data. Worth a try. Just don't clear your passwords.

There's a selection at the top of the page when you that says all time, or last 4 weeks or today, select all time.

JOG, is it working any better? What did you end up trying?.

Did the All Time clear, it's still being ornery. I'm just not ready for the hassle of resetting it to factory and starting over. I'm just living with the quirky junk. It just means I don't post a reply sometimes, phht, I can live with that.
Thanks for asking....
