Title: Advancement in PFAS breakdowns Post by Eegore on 08/24/22 at 07:15:54 PFAS plastic might actually be safely broken down. Not like that 11 year old kid that turned it into more dangerous chemicals, but an actual real permeated dissolution of the PFAS compounds. If the dimethyl sulfoxide method proves to be applicable then we and up with fluorine. Much safer. Unfortunately there are about 12,000 (maybe less) "forever" plastic compounds out there, so who knows how many this method will even work on. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abm8868 |
Title: Re: Advancement in PFAS breakdowns Post by Needles on 08/26/22 at 06:37:20 I saw this a week or so ago. (Makes me feel better about taking a shower, since I use a mild plain lye soap! :)) |
