Title: Modifications to stock seat
Post by Wesleyp53 on 08/16/21 at 16:47:46

What modifications have people done to the stock seat?  I have done the front lift was more wondering what others have done to change the shape and look.  Pictures would be great.  Thanks

I'm adding a flatter sportster seat atop a frame spanning the dip between the tank and the frame horns. Will give me more legroom but won't receive unil Sept.
The cruiser look will go bye-bye except for the footpegs.

I've tried several different things to make the seat more comfortable and the best I've come up with is to just remove the stock seat's vinyl cover, the foam under the cover and install a Airhawk type inflatable pad on the bare seat pan.  I've also raised the front of the seat about an inch using pvc spacers I made from 1 inch pvc pipe.  To me, that has worked the best.  Not sure if it matters but I also have the foot pegs extended 6 inches forward.  I've tried a couple of the sportster type seats with the coil springs etc. but they were never comfortable.  I also tried the Airhawk on the stock seat before removing the cover and foam and it was not as comfortable as with those removed.  To each their own I guess but this is what's worked best for me.

The one piece seat is like purchasing a torture master.
The two piece is much better.
Your inseam is important. Short people fit differently than  tall guys.
If you're tall and have a one piece seat, you might reshape it to make it comfortable with your butt further back than the elevation change in the seat.
YOUR OEM seat shape matters.

I've got a stock sportster seat I may try and fit to my '08 Savage.  I have to decide if I really like the look over the stock one piece one, and how much work it will take.  That's what can happen to a guy in the dead of winter, when he gets the itch to change something, even though what he's got is OK.  (I will NOT be changing my SO)  :)
