Title: Fast singles, slower twins! Post by zipidachimp on 08/15/21 at 23:45:46 If anyone has been watching MotoAmerica roadracing this year, this is interesting: in Junior Cup, the kid on the KTM 390 single has won or led every race. The horde of Ninja 400 twins are having a hard time keeping up. Anyone have an idea what KTM is doing to these motors? Cheers! 8-) ps: almost as entertaining as MOTO GP ! |
Title: Re: Fast singles, slower twins! Post by Fast 650 on 08/16/21 at 07:53:34 The 390 is a big bore short stroke engine. The bore is almost the size of the Savage but has only a 60 mm stroke, and it breathes through a 46mm throttle body. So it is happy to rev high enough to make the big horsepower numbers while having a better torque curve than the 400 twins. And the Euro spec 390 makes several horsepower more than the US spec version does. |
