Title: Left Hand side cover
Post by wiguzziman on 07/23/21 at 13:19:37

Does anyone on this forum have a left hand side cover for a 1996 LS650 Savage (color is unimportant) or a left hand side cover that will fit a 96?  For some reason this seems to be a fairly common item to be missing from used Savages.  All the mounting hardware on my bike is there and not broken.  I've checked on new ones, and I'm assuming that if a color isn't indicated in the listing the cover comes in primer?  The ones without a color listed are also $25.00 to $30.00 cheaper than the color listed ones. New owner here (2 weeks) and any and all help would be great appreciated!!   wiguzziman

The left side cover is only held on by 1 screw, and it is easier to lose than the right side cover that has 2 mounting screws.

I sold the last used one I had a couple months ago.  You fan find them on eBay fairly often.

When you do get a replacement - be sure to use Blue threadlocker on the screw.

When I'm able to find one I've been thinking about putting a tether line on it so that if it does come loose again I can't loose it.  I had to do that same thing with a set of saddlebags that the lids kept popping loose on.  First I have to find a side cover!!  :D  wiguzziman

I use old sealing washers.
They really hold the screw in place well.
