I just saw an article that mentioned that from 2002 the Savage had a better rider comfort?
True?
If true,what was the change?

Sounds like marketing speak...at best. Maybe they used a different foam in the seat.

There is no difference between a used 2003 and used 2005 Savage...except 2 years.

I don't know for sure if "02 was when the changes were made, but sometime around that time the two piece seat was changed to a one piece, and the bars were changed from buckhorns to drag style bars.

Whether or not those changes make the bike more or less comfortable probably depends on who is riding it.

My bike is an '06 and I find the one piece seat and the drag bars quite comfortable. I haven't ever ridden one with the other seat and bars though.

My bike is a 20014 and it has the drag bars but I modified the risers a bit.
They are 4" long, straight and move the bars forward just enough for me.

Most important change,imo,for taller riders,is the change in seat height.

Gotta love that dry weight! There’s nothing like it today (in the cruiser style that I’m aware of)

And there is more weight that can be removed from that. Don't carry a passenger? Replace the rear fender with a lighter one and go with a solo seat. Replace that heavy exhaust with something lighter. Replace steel parts with aluminum where possible. For the same size, aluminum is 1/3 the weight of steel. Or 2/3 the weight for the same strength. An ounce here and there doesn't sound like much, but enough of that adds up to pounds pretty quickly. You can easily knock off 25 pounds and still look nearly stock.

These are not ground breaking changes. Different seat, different bars, different mirrors, different paint....

There are no REAL changes between the 2002 and the few years prior to it or the few years after it. Similar changes can be accomplished with bolt-on aftermarket parts.

As far as the real comfort drivers (suspension, swingarm, tire/wheel sizes) there have been zero changes. The seat height difference is "from the lowest in the market" to the "second lowest in the market". A Honda Grom or Monkey have higher seat heights than a savage.

I am 73 inches and had the seat changed just a little bit too let me sit a little further back on the bike. That makes a huge difference. A little foam is added on the back of the seat and covered with real leather.

Works great for at least two hours, which is my longest ride for now.
