Title: Adjustable Top Yoke
Post by Dave on 03/05/21 at 04:07:24

This is a bottom yoke that has been modified to fit on the top so that you can raise the fork tubes to lower the front of your bike.  This conversion is done on Cafe' bikes along with raising the height of the rear by installing longer shocks - this changes the "cruiser" look of the bike.

The modifications include machining off the fork stops and making a bushing for the center hole so it fits the top of the stem.

The yoke has been bead blasted and the top has been brushed - it look nice this way (but it will discolor and stain easily).  It would be far more durable if it as polished or colored silver or black and the brushed area left aluminum......or the entire thing could be made the same color.

The prices is $100 shipped to anywhere in the US.  Add $15 if you want me to powder coat it to black or silver before it is shipped.

Nice!
Did you cut a section of the steering stem to make the bushing?

Yep.....just left the stem in the yoke and mounted the stem in the lathe to enlarge the center hole.  Then I made a mandrel to hold the stem in the lathe from the bottom side.  I then cut the stem and machined it flat.

That stem is really hard metal! :o

If you are careful you can heat lower triple clamp and shaft will slide out and reverse to reassemble , take measurement from old top triple , make a low interference bushing from brass or aluminum. Heat it push it in. It centers off clamping to tubes , center is just a guide and then clamped with top nut.
For that matter you could make a bushing out of plastic or pcv pipe , it’s just a guide !
