Title: Deadly Stupid
Post by Mavigogun on 02/08/21 at 09:32:32

Ron Wright, Congressional Representative from Texas, after opposing basic public hygiene measures for confronting the COVID-19 Pandemic, died today from the disease.   Wright opposed Trump's impeachment and supported the former President's attempt to subvert democracy by rejecting certified votes from States that were won by Biden.  In many ways, Wright personified how far from "conservative" his party has diverged.

I'm sure the cancer had Nothing to do with it.

article
ARLINGTON, Texas - A North Texas congressman who had been battling lung cancer died after also contracting COVID-19.

Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Wright represented District 6, which includes southeast Tarrant, Ellis and Navarro counties.

He battled lung cancer last fall and FOX confirmed he tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago. A spokesman said he died Sunday with his wife, Susan, by his side.

"Over the past few years, Congressman Wright had kept a rigorous work schedule on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and at home in Texas’ Congressional District 6 while being treated for cancer. For the previous two weeks, Ron and Susan had been admitted to Baylor Hospital in Dallas after contracting COVID-19," a spokesman said in a statement.

Wright took over in District 6 in 2019 after former Congressman Joe Barton retired. He served one full term and was just beginning his second.

"Ron was a passionate public servant and a strong advocate for Texas values, his neighbors in North Texas, and constituents across Texas’ 6th District," said Sen. John Cornyn of Texas.  "A sixth-generation resident of Tarrant County, he was a Texan first and foremost, and we saw that every day as he put his community first.  My heart goes out to his wife, Susan, and his children and grandchildren, whom I hope find solace in his legacy of service."

"I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of U.S. Rep. Ron Wright. Ron was a principled leader who fought to preserve Texas values and was an exemplary representative of his district. His personal strength and commitment to standing up for the unborn were unwavering. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy for future generations of Texans. Cecilia and I send our prayers to Ron's wife, Susan, his family and loved ones," added Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Before serving in Congress, Wright was the Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector. He also served on the Arlington City Council and was Mayor Pro-Tem of Arlington.

Any mature adult by this juncture in the pandemic understands the role of comorbidities.  Clearly, if you are weakened from any other condition, you are more vulnerable- making precaution all the more critical.

Most adults also understand if you have cancer and crash your motorcycle speeding, it wasn’t the cancer that killed you.

Wright contracted COVID-19 somewhere over two weeks ago and is dead today due to the virus.  I have found no physician’s report saying Wright died from cancer.

Sane, mature adults understand the critical importance of hygiene measures during this pandemic- for a critical interval, Wright did not, and paid the price for his politics.

I most certainly did not “disregard” his cancer struggle- were you to actually read and understand my words, you would know that I cited cancer as a damming factor in Wright’s judgement and outcome.

When you proclaim a lie, you better have something to back the accusation up with- else your integrity is forfeit and your voice of no worth, Justin.

What physician's reports have you found?

None, of course- HIPAA precludes any such thing; rather, what we know is what Wright released for public consumption before his death, and his family since- both of which referenced diagnosis.  If Wright had succumbed to cancer,  rather than COVID-19, then we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Not seeing any reference to cancer.

That is what I replied to.

So, point out where you talk about color visitors.

There were an infinite number of things I did not speak to, Justin- the salient point was Wright's political posture contributing to his death.   It seems you were "replying" to your own internal dialog, some unformed notion you're unable to give voice to.

This is a great example of obstructed  understanding,  Justin- I wasn't speaking to the content of any other thread.   I can understand why you'd prefer to believe I was setting some absurd standard as you've suggested, but no- I referred only to your selective interpretation of THIS thread.

The problem, as I see it: you seem to be determined  to dictate the terms of conversations, both content and meaning, to suit your prejudice.    Your first contribution is what-about-ism, with zero reflection on the premise of the lead post.  There after, you bounce between selective amnesia between sentences, or ignoring those that conflict with your preference,  or just struggling with basic reading comprehension- whichever or whatever is actually the case, the results are the same.

Wright’s cancer became the focus with the second post and was addressed in response in the third post.   Cancer was not mentioned in the first post because it was unnecessary- though doing so would have stressed the folly of Wright’s choices even more.   Do you not understand that, Justin?

Wright advocated for policies that increased the likelihood he would be killed by this virus before the possibility of vaccination.  His personal vulnerability didn’t make that a better choice.

Title: Re: Deadly Stupid
Post by Mavigogun on 02/09/21 at 05:58:04

Justin, it’s as though we were talking about someone who walked naked through a blizzard, suffered pneumonia as a consequence, and subsequently died- and your response was to say ‘ya, but they had asthma- why didn’t you mention the asthma?’

Oh, ya, sure- having asthma would have made that an even dumber choice.   Good point, I agree.  (over, and over, and over...)

died today from the disease

Not one word about cancer.

No mention of a comorbidity

Difference between

With
And
From..

But you can forget about the
Motorcycle crash
And the
Gunshot victims

The obvious over count..

Believe what you want.

You still think Biden actually got more votes than anyone, ever..

The obvious escapes lefties.

Except for the obvious

If it was born with balls it's a man.

That escapes lefties.

Ah yes, when you've lost the debate just list off personal grievances as if it solidifies your point. You've weakened your own position by blaming everything on "lefties".

Are you implying that because he already had cancer, he couldn't have possibly died from covid? Or does having a comorbidity make one more deserving of death? I'll never understand this logic. "Yeah he had covid AND died, but MAYBE it was the cancer that got him first". Clearly covid isn't an issue, right?

The question for me has been “is there a mechanism by which Justin can be steered toward a coherent exchange of ideas?”   Demonstrably not.   I don’t really know if the defect is willful personal debasement, lack of integrity, or a difficult-for-me-to-imagine lack of capacity, but in every exchange you demand charitable regard.

Eventually- and this is the case for me -folks will loose all interest in discovering the nature of your damage.    Your endless tantrum is a liability few would gladly indulge for longer than it takes to get to know you.  As unlikely as it may be, I hope you are fortunate enough to have the company of any so generous.

While those labels may be of primary importance to some, for many, many people suffering the loss of their loved ones, your words are not more than petty insult to their pain.

492,660 dead neighbors, as of this morning- not “fear”, but grim consequence.
