Title: SNOW FLURRIES
Post by MMRanch on 01/31/21 at 15:36:44

It not often that Tn. gets  snow in the fore-cast  .

How is it at your house ?  :-?

We had about three inches in Longview, reports of around six in Tyler, forty miles south, a couple of weeks ago. Clear, cool and breezy today.
Shocked that snow continues to exist. I was told some years ago it would not be around by now.
Gosh,
Alleged
Experts
Clueless

Who knew?

No snow here! It will get down into the 40's overnight this week. Back into the 60's and 70's during the day.

Is anyone making Daytona plans for this year? All the rual areas are pretty much safe. The news screams ''WE'RE ALL GONA DIE!'' of course. And all the older people that have not got thier shot yet complain about the goverment ( but only name those not of thier own party).
The world has 7 BILLION people, they can't make that much vacine overnight. NOT EVERYONE CAN BE FIRST!
Will be some brisk, but nice weather for riding next month.

We had an inch or so last night, and couple of flurries this evening.

Our winter has been very mild here in KY, and we have been much warmer and we have had much less snow than is normal.

However - the next week is going to be a real dose of winter and we will have our overnight temperature down to Zero or below on Sunday!

Looks like The NE part of Oklahoma will be dropping into the teens at the end of the week.  We did have some sub-zero temps a few years back.  It was dry though so it did not feel all that cold, felt good.

We had a good "Dusting" last night (Sunday into Monday) and by noon it was still blowing around ... but no accumulation.

This morning(Tuesday) about daylight we had 22 deg. on the porch and a lot of COLD wind .

It may be too COLD for the Ground-Hog to come out and play.

My folks are in Lakeside, CA.  East County of San Diego where it gets pretty hot.  They sent me a pic last week that showed snow on the hills just East of them.  Weird.  Here in Denver, we've had some 50's and 60's the past couple of weeks.  Also weird.  Got to ride to work yesterday.  Pretty odd for Winter in the Rockies!

Here in Minnesota, we got ~2 more inches yesterday and now it's supposed to be barely zero over the weekend. Even if it was warm enough, I can't get my bike out since my driveway is a sheet of ice since we got freezing rain followed by 6"+ right before Christmas.  :(

MM - Yep. If we get snow anytime after Thanksgiving, it tends to last until the spring thaws since when it gets cold it stays cold. The only real positive is it doesn't stay cloudy, it's sunny and the sun is warm even if the thermometer says zero.

sjaskow:

I kinda' get the feeling MM has always been in the south, and not used to temperatures that can stay below freezing for months and months.

I grew up in northern Ohio and lived there until I was 20.  I can remember winters when we could sled ride for months on the hill in our back yard, and we would get 12"-14" of snow in a single storm.  The front porch of our house had 5 steps - some winters there was only a step or two showing above the packed snow on the sidewalk. (A lot of the snow on the sidewalk had slid off the slate roof on our farmhouse).

I should have settled in Florida when I got out of the Army .   Then I could go visit the North in the summer time .    ;)

................

When I was in 6th grade we move to Tn.  , before that we lived in Chicago .  I remember those walking to school 7 block all winter with the snow shoved up off the sidewalks into mounds that we could walk on till March.
I'll have to say :
Southern Tn. is a much warmer  place to spend the winter .  :)

It started snowing around 7PM last night, and it snowed all night.

We only got about 4" at home - 9 miles to my office and the snow depth was 8" - 10"!

If the temp was 3 degrees colder we might have had a foot of snow today !

Not sure to be glad or sad ?   ::)

Getting her on a bike is an idea that created a truly ridiculous mental picture.
That is funny, and impossible.

The weather is looking a bit gruesome around here.

We are in a winter storm watch and we are expected to get 6-9 inches of new snow in the evening hours.

My phone also has Robbinsville, NC - Suches, GA and Japser, ARK in the weather app, and all three places are under a Winter Weather Watch........Jasper is currently 5 degrees and will be -2 tonight!

We got about nine inches last night. Supposed to see more Wednesday.
They are saying One degree Wednesday morning. It was nine in the shop at five A.M. today.

Not digging having to babysit the pipes that long. I've had to watch over them before, but not for more than a coupla days straight. Nasty stuff.

And tonight we are supposed to see Three degrees, the record low is from, iirc1909,and I think they said twenty degrees. This is the second time in fifteen years we've had enough snow to cover the yard and it stick around for a day and it's looking like this time it's gonna be here till Friday, maybe Saturday.
Wow..
It's five degrees out there now. Sky is clear. Three degrees may be a bit high for the overnight low.

We have had some cold temps in Jersey. I saw some lawyers with their hands in their own pockets.  ;D

I keep several thermometers around. Two out front during this mess.
No idea what it's reading, because there are no numbers in the below zero area. The needle is moved South of zero pretty close to five degrees...
A record, for sure.

Post by LANCER on 02/16/21 at 06:01:19

This morning we were greeted by -19 deg. air temp.
There was no wind so the wind chill was also -19.
It’s a Very Krispy spring morning.

What ?
It’s not spring yet ?
Oh contraire, check out the Sat & Sun forecast...spring time baby.

To make everybody feel better (maybe), yesterday at 2:53 PM CDT was the first time it made it to zero degrees since Thursday afternoon here in Minnesota. My weather station here in my office says it's now a relatively balmy 5.

Luckily, it's supposed to be in the 30s by this weekend and they're predicting 40s by next week.

Though here at the Jersey Shore we are going through a snow/rain event today and tomorrow it is a big change from Tuesday afternoon when the sun came out and it hit 56 degrees. Got to take both the Savage and S40 out to circulate some oil and charge the batteries. On the Savage took a spin around the industrail park where my shop is, doing some practice manuvers and such in empty parking lots then through a couple back roads to the highway for a run back. On the S40 I hit the interstate north for a couple exits, turned around and back down one exit then back roads to the shop. One freak day in the weeks of cold and snow we have had.

So anyway, this brings up a question, can I just refer to both of them as a Savage?
