Title: Carpal tunnel surgery
Post by Ruttly on 01/13/21 at 21:06:20

Last Friday I had carpal surgery on my right hand. It was just a office procedure the worst of it was the shots to numb the area. Swelling is going down , the first few days it was hella painful. Already have noticed that the tremors have stopped , just drives me crazy when I can’t control the trembling. Can’t wait to go for a ride once it’s healed. You don’t realize how hard it is using your left hand for everything when your right handed. Maybe get the left one done next year. I’ll be riding soon , I’ll give it a month or so.

the worst of it was the shots to numb the area.

I had a lump cut off a tendon. Dude stopped and asked if I was okay.

I told him if I was a P.O.W. and he was demanding answers, I would have already told him everything and I would be making stuff up,,

And after all that
The lump came back..

Needles in a hand Really Hurt..

Get well Ruttly!

Some of us learned the hard way how cumbersome it is not having the temporary use of a hand.

Nooooooooooooo! Not that picture again!!!!

Stew, I sure hope that has healed properly for you.

Ruttly, I feel for you man. As I enter the later chapters of my life, the hands and fingers do seem to be suffering a bit.

JOG, I know the feeling of a needle aspirating a lump on the back of my hand. No bueno!!!!

Dude was pumping, Idk, saline, maybe? Into my palm and between fingers, putting pressure on nerves, so he could cut that thing off a tendon in my palm.
Sumbich is Not on my Christmas card list.

Now just bored , have to use the hand but can’t wrench , can’t ride , not even a bicycle , can’t build guitars or play , maybe I’ll take the Christmas  lights off the house , no not that either. Think I’ll just sip some moonshine a friend made. Stitches come out soon , nothing like Stew’s , just a little more than a inch , three or four stitches. Still no tremors , it was driving me nuts. I think he did a good job , I just need to relax and let it heal and not screw it up. I should have practiced wiping my butt with my left hand BEFORE the surgery , LOL

Most likely a ganglion cyst , got one on my left hand , if they don’t cleanly cut it out they just come back. JOG you have to see a specialist that treats HUMANS , not a veterinarian !

Yeah I think “ The Picture “ of Stew’s hand will be with us forever
Makes me shiver inside just thinking about it

Funny, but oh so true.  That left-wipe is a learned skill with the occasional slip up when you zigged and shoulda zagged.

I feel ya Ruttly. I've had my right hand in a cast a couple of times. That left hand wipe is no fun. ;D

JOG, I don't really know what the knot on the back of my hand was called but I had it aspirated 3 times I think it was before it stopped coming back. That really was extremely painful.

Yeah, hands are sensitive.
When the turbocharger sucked my hand in and tore my finger off, I couldn't stand up. And the doctor pumped stuff in so he could work on it while I was laying there Listening to him trim the bone with Craftsman diagonal cutters was no thrill..

Too late ! I’m not bothered by it , all my prior operations I was out this time I was awake. I was nervous going in and relaxed on my way out. The sound the saw made when the blade stopped , you just know it wasn’t gonna be good.

I had it done this past summer.  The only finger I had feeling in was my pinky.  They thought I would get immediate relief but it  took 3-months before I had any relief.   It's just now reaching full recovery.

When I had the stitches removed post surgery they were surprised I hadn't noticed any difference.   The doctor said sometimes it takes longer and that surgery doesn't always work if the nerve damage was severe.  I had my doubts for a while.

I’m just glad the tremors in that hand are gone , hand is still very painful.no pushing , pulling , twisting or lifting. Trauma from surgery is still causing swelling , swelling causes pain. Doctor said at least 2 to 3 weeks before I can start trying working the hand as normal. All the fingers are working well just not a lot of strength yet. Messin with the guitar a bit is a good sign.
