Title: GS450 Shafty - GS550 Post by Charming Snake on 01/12/21 at 16:54:28 Hey all, was wondering if anyone knows if a GS450 shaft driven would fit in a GS550 frame. Looking to maybe get a hard tail kit made for GS550 from Lowbrow Customs. Also was kinda thinking about maybe finding a cheap GS450 frame and seeing if I could chop it with out the kit for practice. Anyone done this before? Below is a link to the hard tail kit https://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/voodoo-vintage-fabrication-suzuki-gs550-1977-1986-hardtail-frame |

Title: Re: GS450 Shafty - GS550 Post by MMRanch on 01/15/21 at 21:11:46 Wait a minute guys ... The GS450 wasn't a shaft drive was it ??? :-? https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/suzu/suzuki_gs450a%2081.htm Dang ! it was !! In only one version That weld on hard tail is made for the chain-drive version ... and ... you'll have to change the lines of the bike to match the angle on the hard tail or you'll end-up with a "funky looking mess" . Whats wrong with leaving it in a 450 frame ? :-? :-? You do realize your contemplating digging a money pit ? |

Title: Re: GS450 Shafty - GS550 Post by ohiomoto on 01/18/21 at 17:03:12 I think the biggest hurdle is going to be the length of the HT. You can't adjust the length of the shaft drive like you can with a chain. |
