Time to vent:

If you want to change to second gear you have to remove the carburetor If you cant sleep well you have to remove the carburetor If you don't remove the carburetor at least 4 times a day....you may need to remove it 5 times a day.

But NOOOOOO...to remove the carburator you have to remove the seat, gas tank, battery, battery box, throttle, speedo cable, gas line, unplug the instrument panel. Then, Then you can start removing the carburator. Then, then, you gotta put all that shirt back together.

I tend to overemphasize .... cut me some slack. :D

Yes, I know what you mean.
Tank and seat, yes if you like to see what you're doing.
Tank only needs to go up enough to move the decomp timer.
Seat is only 2 quick pins for me ;D
cables, hoses connected to the carb ain't hard to disconnect.
if you pick the right hose size, there's no clamp.
cable, you don't need that retainer if the cable's routed right.

That leaves the bat box and rubber duckies.
squeeze the box into the airbox with a tie down to clear the bowl.

Why couldn't those b'tards orient the intake manifold the other way?
So you'd have a straight shot to the bolts. I've replaced them with button head allens and use a really long allen wrench.
Once those are loose, pry back then push down and out.
Still cussing at it but not near as hard.

I'm seriously thinking about buying that AGM 801 half size battery and eliminating the batt box and adding +/- connections where you can actually get to them. But, right now I have to do my 630pm carb removal ;D ;D

SOUTHWORTH -- A man trying to loosen a stubborn lug nut blasted the wheel with a 12-gauge shotgun, injuring himself badly in both legs, Kitsap County sheriff's deputies said.

The 66-year-old man had been repairing the car for two weeks at his home northwest of Southworth and east of Port Orchard and had gotten all but one lug nut off the right rear wheel before getting frustrated Saturday, Deputy Scott Wilson said.

That's actually an excellent idea. I have no trouble getting to my carb, and most anything on my cafe conversion as it was designed to be maintained. The standard Savage was designed to be brought to a dealer.

I have an AG-801 and I ended up leaving the battery box there. The plan was to remove it but it made its way back somehow.

Edit: It did stay off for a bit when I worked on jetting.
