Title: Wooden Bike Stand
Post by Slowlane on 01/07/21 at 09:30:54

Anybody made a wood bike stand that also lifts the bike.  I have made 2 before but for different bikes.  They work well and are usually made of two 2X8 boards with a 2X4 prybar.  Lots of them on youtueb

I employ one.   Here’s the critical parts: allow the lever bar to pass through the lifting beam; this allows it to “lock” the lifting beam in position- otherwise, were the bike to shift, you could have all the weight of the bike rotating the lever up at your skull.   Because you will need to pass the beam under the center frame, it will actually lift the bike very little; to achieve more height- say, as you might need for replacing the shocks -the beam may be rocked up at an angle, a shim inserted under the lifted edge, then rocked the opposite direction, a matching shim added, and so on until the needed height is achieved.

Finally- and I can’t stress this enough -support the bike with ropes; in the event the bike topples off the beam, so constrained you may be saved from harm.
