Title: Foot heat shield
Post by Hiko on 12/13/20 at 22:41:36

I tend to cruise with the balls on my feet on the pegs
This puts my right heel on the bare part of the exhaust
This is the shield I made in a few minutes with some perforated stainless steel and a rivet and hose clamp so far it has worked very well and saved both the pipe and my heel

As long as it does the job. I can't lie though, it's not pretty, but it can't make the standard pipe look any worse, so I guess it's all good.

Great idea! I like the way you made this.  Where exactly does the rivet attach to the clamp? It's hard to see exactly how you did it, and this idea has me thinking about how to make heat shields to cover a high pipe.

I drilled a shallow hole in my boot heel and pounded a 1/2" diameter dowel in..
No melted rubbar.
Only Styxx out about 3/16"..

Eau de savauge  You are right.... not that pretty

Edub  I found a hose clamp that fitted and drilled a hole in the band so that the screw was facing out at the bottom and then riveted the mesh to it in the right place  easy peasy and works well Any longer than what I have and you would probably need two clamps  The mesh is easy to shape

Jog   It never occured to me to do that  Good idea!

Now if someone would come up with a practical idea for a stone guard for the belt I would be all attention

I dumped both shields off the exhaust, lost all that dead weight, wrapped it, and, despite the Texas heat, have never missed it since.
